Welcome to The Pewter Pineapple! We’re so glad you found us! Brittany and I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce ourselves. You found my little bio, but if you haven’t read Britt’s be sure to hop over and learn a bit more about her! We are cousins, but really more like sisters! We have so many fun ideas to share with you!
Hi! I’m Jenna! I currently live in The Woodlands, Texas and I’m a dog mom to one wild boxer mix, Lottie, aka barn yard Betty! She leaves a path of toys, dirt, fur, and drool wherever she goes. Lottie may be a mess, but I think she’s pretty perfect. She is about to turn one and I can’t wait to take all the pictures! Clearly I am obsessed with her!
I’m originally from Camarillo California but moved to Texas at 7 years old. We lived in Texas for about 10 months and then moved overseas for the first time to Bangkok Thailand. Talk about a culture shock! My parents tell stories of my brother and I following them so closely that we were running in to them. We were 8 and 10 and didn’t speak a word of Thai. I’m guessing that was a little scary for us, but now I know we would have been fine! After 3.5 years there we then moved to Eagle River Alaska. Yet again, we got a shock, although this time it was the weather. I definitely am not a snowy weather kind of girl. I love to visit, but not to live there. I need my tropical weather! If you haven’t guessed by now, my dad worked for an oil company and that is what was causing all of these moves.

After 3.5 years in Alaska, we moved back to Bangkok Thailand where I graduated from high school in 2006. Thailand is truly a second home for me. I love the people, the culture and of course, the food. Senior year of high school I took a photography class which my parents refused to buy me a camera for (understandably since I’d never done it before!). So I borrowed one from a friend and ended up having my photo featured on the art show poster. My parents finally believed it might be a real interest and bought me my first DSLR camera as a graduation present.
After graduating I moved to Texas for university at Mary Hardin Baylor where I majored in Fine Art with an emphasis in visual communication. Here I took more photography classes as well as graphic design, color theory and other classes that would play a major role in my future. Senior year I was required to do an internship so I did one with a local portrait photographer, Kara Powell Photography. We had a great summer working together and after graduation, Kara offered me a job.
I still work there as the creative director. I get to edit photos, create artwork for clients and film special moments. On the side I also photograph friends and family, under the brand J Hansen Photography, which I love doing! Those photos always feel a little extra special!
My moms side of the family still lives in California (mostly), as well as my best friend, so I am often out there visiting people. Lots of baby showers, birthdays and holidays. Brittany and I spent a good chunk of the beginning of our lives together all the time. Our moms would always get all of us kids together to just hang out and play. After I moved out of state, we would always come back to my aunts house (Brittany’s mom) every summer and spend at least a few weeks there. Our summers were filled with crafts, baking, dancing, parades, water fun, and general merriment. Our moms made sure those weeks were filled with fun and memories we still talk about to this day.
Some of my favorite things:
-Travel: I’ve been to England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Morocco, Greece, Mexico, The Bahamas, Canada and all over the US. I love learning about new cultures!
-Photography: Specifically architecture and travel.
-Fonts: I have a reallllly hard time trying to pick fonts, which I have to do all the time. Fonts say so much just by the shape and curve of their letters. I could go down a serious rabbit hole talking about fonts!
-Time with family: It doesn’t matter what were doing. It’s always fun!
-Reading: I love historical fiction and non fiction, The Alice Network and Radium Girls are some favorites. I also love thrillers and anything by Colleen Hoover.
-Dogs: I am obsessed. Mostly with my dog, Lottie, but also with every dog I cross paths with. I. Love. Dogs.
